10 years on from the first Satrofit cards being installed in Easton Leisure Centre in Bristol, Hurtwood has continued to roll out the Satrofit retrofit solution for the obsolete Satchwell BAS (Building Automation Systems) & Sigma BMS.
We recently assisted a major Building Management Systems integrator to upgrade two Sigma 296 outstations. The outstations controlled the heating and chilled water plant. The original Sigma IO cards and the CPU cards were replaced with the Satrofit Modbus cards and a Tridium JACE. Despite it being the middle of winter, the boilers were only down for an hour while the cards were removed from the existing racks and replaced with the new cards. This seamless transition meant that the users experienced no loss of heating which was critical within this commercial space. Within 1 day, the 296 outstations had been upgraded and the commissioning engineer had moved on to carrying out a dilapidation of the field equipment.
We also converted the existing Sigma engineering file into the Niagara framework using our software conversion tool. This significantly reduced the engineering time for the Tridium JACE controller.
