As part of our consultancy work, Hurtwood ltd have employed the use of our in-house developed retrofit I/O cards as part of a legacy project aimed at tackling obsolescence. Our satrofit retrofitting cards have been used to upgrade 3 Satchwell Sigma 96 point Building management system (BMS) outstations on an office site.
What made this so easy?
Satrofit retrofit cards have been praised for their simplicity which became a direct benefit to this project. The unique feature of this particular building automation system upgrade was that it was carried out by the sites own technical personnel with no site attendance by the BMS engineers- a great opportunity to minimise carbon footprint on this occasion.

The on site technicians were able to install and commission the satrofit cards using detailed instructions from the team along with our unique satrofit conversion software tool.
The process for this project couldn’t have been simpler. Once the satrofit retrofit i/o cards and associated Tridium JACE controller were despatched to the site, the team receiving the cards were able to get on and complete the installation very quickly. The cards had all the I/O configuration jumpers set and the comms switches correctly configured prior to despatch. All the on-site technicians had to do once received was replace the cards and wire the Modbus comms to each set of cards – a process which takes only minutes per card.

As a result, the BMS controls for 3 Air Handling Units (AHU’s) were upgraded over a matter of days and recommissioned at low cost – another win for tackling obsolescence!
